About Us

Assisting the Government and the public in its fight against copper cable theft!

CUSPER is an initiative to assist the Government and the public in its fight against copper cable theft (CCT), and unscheduled power outages (UPO), and the aim of such is to control the exorbitant cost of fixing the damage to electrical infrastructure and the frustrations with blackouts, as well as to ultimately restore both economic growth and public confidence.

CUSPER is an acronym derived from CU  the symbol for Copper on the periodic table, and Special Projects Emergency Response.

How Does it Work?

CUSPER is a Nationally centralised system where suspected incidents of copper cable theft and unscheduled outages can be reported and monitored both by custodians (owners like Municipalities, Telkom, Eskom, PRASA, etc), as well as the public.

Custodians can register online where a CUSPER representative will be in contact to validate the request for access to the system. The first three (3) months are FREE whereafter a monthly subscription fee will allow for reports, statistics, etc.

The public can register online for FREE to anonymously report suspicious activities like unscheduled power outages (UPO), suspect people or vehicles, or “hanging” (exposed) cables.

Due to the enormous demand for a well-thought-through system like CUSPER, something that can pull the proverbial handbrake on the cable theft problem, it will be developed and deployed in phases. We will list the phased and expected delivery or launch dates and communicate that to our users.
